Director

Gauri Nepali (she/they) is a Director of JFP. She is primarily responsible for the Dāmal Fellowship and the international Darnal Award for Social Justice. She also actively assists with program development and management at JFP, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to advancing social justice causes within and beyond the LGBTQI+ community.


She is a dedicated queer activist with a decade of experience collaborating with the Blue Diamond Society and the Federation of Sexual and Gender Minorities Nepal. Gauri is an educator on sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics, and the sexual and reproductive health rights of LGBTI individuals. As a co-founder of Unity for Change, an organization led by trans men that supports lesbian, bisexual, and trans man individuals, Gauri actively contributes to fostering inclusivity and empowerment within the community. With a Master’s degree in Nepali and Political Science from Tribhuvan University, Gauri combines academic rigor with practical advocacy. Their written work, including articles and op-eds for online and print publications, delves into critical topics such as caste, gender, sexuality, and politics, emphasizing intersectional issues within marginalized communities.


She is a fellow of the “Shift the Narrative Fellowship” by Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights, Asia and Pacific (UAF A&P).
