Ujjwala Maharjan
Ujjwala Maharjan is a Kathmandu based poet, performer and educator. She believes in arts education as a pathway to building a more empathetic and inclusive society. Post her graduation from University of Pennsylvania on International Educational Development she has been exploring trauma-informed practices and narrative approaches with artists and educators and is interested in community-based art education programs focusing on storytelling through varied creative mediums. Ujjwala is also one of the co-founders of Word Warriors, a spoken word poetry collective founded in 2010 in Nepal and has co-led poetry and education projects like Write to Speak with the collective. At JFP, Ujjwala is a faculty member and advisor for the international Darnal Award for Social Justice. She is also assisting with Just Futures Fellowship curriculum and engendering creative narratives on caste-questions.
