Sita Devi Baudel
Sita Devi Baudel was one of the first directly elected Parliamentarian belonging to Dalit community of the first Constituent Assembly, where she helped write the 2015 Constitution of Nepal. Having served as a soldier in the Maoist Army during the Peoples war in Nepal, Sita bring a distinct experience and insights into politics of fighting for justice and just society. As a Parliamentarian, Sita worked on the Committee on Fundamental Rights, and on formulating the Policies and Directive Principles of the State. She is a Central Committee Member of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre). As an elected representative from Nawalparasi-3, she initiated drinking water and irrigation projects, micro-hydroelectricity construction, local government building construction, bridges and road-building projects in her constituency. She was a selection committee member for the Bhagat Sarbajit National Award, and is the President of Inter-Party Women’s Network in Nawalparasi District. At JFP, Sita is faculty member and part of a Working Group that is interrogating the interconnectedness of caste, class, and gender for research and policy considerations in Nepal and beyond.
